You have probably seen this and not given it too much thought because
now it is so ingrained in the American shopping experience.
Maybe you saw a clerk at the local supermarket or discount store
scanning items with a handheld device - counting inventory.
Or maybe you were standing in line and someone used a handheld
device to speed up your check-out. The critical economic
factor driving the use of handheld devices is not the cost of
the devices or the cost of the communications network they use.
No, it is worker productivity. If the supermarkets and
discount chains see a benefit in these devices, perhaps it is
time for your business to benefit. Think about it.
We chose an industry leader, Intuit, and specifically designed
BarcodeTP to enhance QuickBooks®' inventory handling. When you
bought QuickBooks®, you got a real-time system. As soon as you post
an item or sales receipt, the inventory is updated. BarcodeTP is
also real-time - connected online to QuickBooks® via a wireless
network. As soon as you post an item receipt or sales receipt in
BarcodeTP, QuickBooks®' inventory is updated.
BarcodeTP communicates with QuickBooks® through Pocket PC devices,
but it is not a software application you load into Pocket PC.
To be more precise, BarcodeTP is an intranet web site you set up
to communicate with Pocket PC devices. That means the price is the
same whether you use one scanner or five. The number of handheld
devices your system can support depends upon the hardware's
processing power.

If you find the term “intranet web site” intimidating, you may be
surprised to learn how much of your web site you already have.
You do not have to purchase a scanner and our software to
see if this “intranet web site” idea will work for you. BarcodeTP
requires Internet Information Services (IIS) and Message Queuing,
but both are included in all the Windows Operating Systems listed
above. All it will probably take is a little bit of your time to
step through some of our tutorials,
and find out how easy it really is.
